The Carpathians
Nature has been extremely generous to Romania’s landscape. Its relief is simultaneously varied and harmonious. Mountain ranges fascinate and attract numerous tourists due to its beauty and greatness. Wilderness, pride, splendour, unexpectedly submissive, given their breadth and scope, Romania’s mountains allow many opportunities for contemplation, crossings, and inhabitation.
Named during Antiquity, ”Corona Montium”, the Carpathians, represent a third of the country’s territory and present spectacular and picturesque vistas. These are divided into three separate ranges: the Oriental Carpathians, the Meridional Carpathians and the Western Carpathians, each with its features. The same beauty differently told.
Accommodation
In the last few years, the opportunity for accommodations in Romania offers possibilities for all tastes: from luxury hotels, which offer the whole range of services at international standards, in the heart of the great cities or seaside resorts at the rural pensions from picturesque villages; to mountain chalets situated at great heights; to campsides and motels. Even those who want something “more special” can opt for unique locations, such as Mogosoaia palace or even the peasant city from Râşnov.
Accommodations in Romania are classified according to the rating system of the National Association of Tourism, from 5 stars – the highest-comfort degree – to 1 star. Rural pensions are classified based on numbers of daisies, corresponding in quality to the star-rating system.
For adventure lovers, Romania offers much that is difficult to ignore. Enjoying a nature of a rare beauty untouched by the impact of human activity, Romania offers many opportunities to practice active tourism – speleology, rafting, mountain tracks.
The numerous reservations and natural parks offer a wide variety of attractions for adventure fans, among them bird and wild animal watching, and exploring rare natural phenomena – muddy volcanoes, salt mountains and others.
